Dale Chumbley: Making Digital Marketing and Social Media Work for Real Estate

On Wednesday, November 17, 2016, Dale Chumbley gave a talk at the Clark College Business Web Practices class entitled Making Digital Marketing and Social Media Work for Real Estate. Here’s the video recording of Dale’s talk:

Dale Chumbley is a 2nd generation REALTOR® in Vancouver, Washington who has been selling real estate since 1994. He also spent 8 years working in the Clark County Department of Assessment & GIS in the Land Records Department. This experience gives Dale a knowledge and expertise that no other REALTOR® in Clark County, WA has. He was named by Inman News one of the 100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders in the country. He is the founder of 365 Things To Do In Vancouver, WA on Facebook. In 2014 Dale served as his local Association’s President and was named REALTOR® of the Year. Dale was most recently named one of The Top 20 Social Influencers of Residential Real Estate 2016 by Swanepoel Power 200 nationally. Dale is recognized nationally for his mix of traditional real estate and technologically cutting edge marketing. This week’s Business Web Practices lecture features Dale Chumbley, a real estate professional with a passion and successful track record with digital marketing and social media. I first encountered Dale several years ago at an event of technology professionals and was impressed by the presentation he did about wildly successful social media web project, 365 Things to Do in Vancouver, WA.  I hope you will get the opportunity to join us on Weds. 11/17/16 at 4:30 in Foster Auditorium to learn how a business professional developed a relationship with technology that has proven to be quite successful.

Eliza Greenwood: The Convergence of Digital Marketing and Accessibility

This week’s Business Web Practices lecture features Eliza Greenwood, a web professional who focuses on marketing and social media deliverability concerns for people with disabilities. Eliza Greenwood is a freelance digital marketer and accessibility evangelist. This means she attends bleeding edge accessibility conferences, meeting developers and designers who are working on digital solutions that make the web accessible to people with disabilities, then working with clients to ensure accessible marketing. Eliza also examines social media use in this space, identifying opportunities for better accessibility and to keep a pulse on varying trends across channels. When not working from home or out meeting clients and nurturing relationships with talent, Eliza enjoys hiking and tracking real estate with her wife and friends.

This event is a part of The Business Web Practices Speaker Series curated by Clark Instructor Bruce Elgort. It is held on Wednesdays throughout Fall Quarter, 4:30-5:50PM, Main Clark Campus, Foster Auditorium (FHL 126). This event focuses on business leaders as well as those with successful careers in web development providing their insights on opportunities and challenges that face those who practice commerce and provide services for our local communities. This week’s Business Web Practices lecture features two individuals with strong ties to Clark College; CTEC and CGT adjunct instructor Fellene Gaylord and Web Development program graduate Christine Watson. Both will share tales of their career journeys with a stress on how successful careers in the world of the web require one to be fluid, open to change, and be willing to regularly develop and expand their skill sets.

This Week: The Importance and Role of Quality Assurance in Software Development

This week, Jane Croft will be giving a talk entitled “The Importance and Role of Quality Assurance in Software Development” as part of the Clark College Business Web Practices Speaker Series. Jane is a returning to our speaker series for her second time. The talk she gave last year was one of my favorites.

Here is some information about Jane:

I am an Anthem (formerly WellPoint) associate with over 8 years of dedicated service and over 25 years in healthcare. Because of my strong organizational, resource and project management skills on multiple complex projects and initiatives, I am considered among the best Quality Assurance leaders. Ad3c2cb0avocating quality and best practices of Information Technology testing and LEAN Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology has given me the opportunity to be a part of building new testing organization at Anthem with the QA Management Team. I aspire to be a Test Architect leading into Test Management and/or Project Management with CSQA and/or PMI certification by year 2015-2016 and become a paid public speaker advocating for the deaf communities. Currently the Co-Chair of Anthem Disability Associate Resource Group (Abilities Beyond Limited Expectations – ABLE).

This week’s speaker is also a Clark College Alum success story.  A few years ago, Troy Uyan was a Clark Running Start student exploring career options.  He is currently employed as a web developer for the government of Clark County. He’ll talk about how Clark’s CTEC Web Development program helped prepare him for his job and share impressions of his current world of work.
