Bruce Elgort

In this video, I demonstrate how I used IBM Watson’s Tone Analyzer service to analyze an entire Slack channels’ textual content history. The bot allows you to select the channel you want to have analyzed and then presents charts displaying the various tones in the channel.

This Week: The Importance and Role of Quality Assurance in Software Development

This week, Jane Croft will be giving a talk entitled “The Importance and Role of Quality Assurance in Software Development” as part of the Clark College Business Web Practices Speaker Series. Jane is a returning to our speaker series for her second time. The talk she gave last year was one of my favorites.

Here is some information about Jane:

I am an Anthem (formerly WellPoint) associate with over 8 years of dedicated service and over 25 years in healthcare. Because of my strong organizational, resource and project management skills on multiple complex projects and initiatives, I am considered among the best Quality Assurance leaders. Ad3c2cb0avocating quality and best practices of Information Technology testing and LEAN Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology has given me the opportunity to be a part of building new testing organization at Anthem with the QA Management Team. I aspire to be a Test Architect leading into Test Management and/or Project Management with CSQA and/or PMI certification by year 2015-2016 and become a paid public speaker advocating for the deaf communities. Currently the Co-Chair of Anthem Disability Associate Resource Group (Abilities Beyond Limited Expectations – ABLE).

These talks are open to the public and take place at Clark College in the Foster Auditorium at 4:30pm Wednesday’s at 4:30pm. Here is the Fall 2016 schedule. You can also subscribe to the CTEC 165 Business Web Practices Speaker Series YouTube channel.

Dear Web Developers

Make it work it before you make it nice. Or better yet – make it work perfectly before adding the visual pizza.

Thank you,
Bruce

Saw the above on Twitter by Rian Rietveld who was giving a talk on web accessibility at a WordPress WordCamp conference

A Splash of Color

The Vancouver Watersheds Alliance, its partners and numerous local artists have given Vancouver’s Main Street a splash of color. The murals remind residents that what flows through our storm drains eventually leads to our rivers. If it’s not rain, it doesn’t belong in the drain!

I love this idea and I’m excited to go walk through the City of Vancouver to find them all.

Cheryl Bledsoe: Ubiquity of Social Media and Social Media as a Social Service

Yesterday Cheryl Bledsoe, Technology & Accreditation Manager at Clackamas County Communications, delivered an outstanding talk at Clark College. I have seen many talks on social media, but none of them ever resonated with me the way in which the stories Cheryl shared did. This talk is a “much watch” for any company, organization, educator or person who utilizes one or more of the plethora of social media platforms. I would also encourage you to share it with your friends, colleagues, and family.

Here is the schedule of speakers as well as videos of past speakers. Also, please subscribe to Business Web Practices Speaker Series YouTube channel.

Cheryl, on behalf of Clark College, thank you!
