Add Spacers to the OS X Dock

A few days ago I was watching a video tutorial about CodePen and I noticed that the narrator had spacers in his OS X dock. A quick Google search found this Life Hacker article by Melanie Pinola on how to issue a few Terminal commands to get spacers in the dock.
