The Clark College Student Success Resources browser extension (“the Extension”) helps students quickly navigate to commonly used Clark College resources. This policy explains what information the Extension does — and does not — access.
Information We Do Not Collect
The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. It does not use accounts, cookies, analytics, or tracking of any kind. We do not know who has installed the Extension or how it is used.
How the Extension Works
- Quick links: The popup contains a fixed list of links to Clark College pages (Canvas, financial aid, tutoring, etc.). Clicking a link opens that page directly in your browser; no information about the click is sent to us.
- Search box: If you type a search term into the Extension’s search box, that term is sent directly to Clark College’s own website search (clark.edu) to show you results — the same as if you had typed it into the search box on clark.edu yourself. We do not see or log these search terms.
- Announcement banner: The Extension occasionally checks a public, non-personalized file hosted on GitHub for important announcements to display in the popup. This request does not include any information about you or your browser beyond what any standard web request contains (e.g., IP address, handled by GitHub, not by us).
Permissions
The Extension requests the minimum browser permissions needed to function:
activeTab— used only to update your current tab when you perform a search.- Access to
raw.githubusercontent.com— used only to retrieve the public announcement file described above.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or otherwise disclose any user data, because we do not collect any.
Children’s Privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
